Welcome to Pumuleni, one of only seven private properties in the Monks Cowl Reserve, the entrance to a World Heritage site in the Drakensberg. Situated 420 km from Johannesburg, Pumueleni has two rondawels (african styled huts) – one with 3 rooms and one with 1 room, with comfortable kitchen and bathroom facilities. Be sure to enjoy the hot water outdoor shower under the stars!
The accommodation is self catering, and you would have to bring all your food (including coffee, tea, spices, etc) as well as your own bedding and towels.
There are numerous berg walks in that area, some of which pass through the property. These walks vary in length and difficulty, from an easy 45 minute to a more rigorous full day hike.
Other attractions nearby include the Drakensberg Boys Choir, the Champagne Castle Sports Resort with an excellent golf course, canopying, a bird rehabilitation centre with daily bird shows, to name but a few. The nearest town is Winterton.
